FR. JOVITO M. MALINAO, OFM
The 28th CKC President
Fr. Jovit M. Malinao, OFM was born on January 11, 1973 and was raised in Tondo, Manila and Camarin, Caloocan by his loving parents who were originally from Bicol and Masbate.
He is third from the eldest among eight children who are all boys. He attended both his elementary and secondary education at Camarin Main Elementary School and Camarin High School in Caloocan City.
As a young boy, he was very active in his home parish as an altar server until high school. He must have been influenced by his parents especially his mother who is a very pious woman.
He entered seminary and finished a degree in Bachelor of Arts Major in Religious Studies Minor in Philosophy and Sociology at the Our Lady of the Angels Seminary in Novaliches, Quezon City in 1995. He finished his Master's degree in 2003 at the Inter-Congregational Theological Center in New Manila, Quezon City. He also took Master's degree at the Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School with Masters of Applied Sociology and Anthropology between the years 2011 to 2014.
As a member of the Order of Friars Minor, he had his First Profession on May 31, 1997 and his Final Profession on May 29, 2001. He was ordained a priest on August 18, 2003.
As a missionary, he was sent to different communities in Luzon and Mindanao prior to his assignments in Samar. One of his fruitful experiences was spent for 7 years in Balo-i, Lanao del Norte in Mindanao; as Pastor, Director of the Dialogue of Life and Faith Program, General Secretary of Balo-i Muslim Christian Movement for Peace, Inc. and as Social Action Director of Prelature of Marawi. Like his Father Founder, the Seraphic St. Francis of Assisi, he served in Islam-practicing communities particularly our Maranao brethren together with Christians who are only a few percentage in the total population in the said area. He was assigned Assistant Chaplain to the Poor Clares in Josefina Zamboanga del Sur.
For two years, he was Chaplain and Human Resource and Development Director of the Our Lady of Portiuncola Hospital, Inc. (OLPHI), another Franciscan apostolate in Samar. Before his assignment at Christ the King College, he served Saint Francis College in Allen, Northern Samar as School Director. He was elected President of Northern Samar Association of Catholic Schools in August of 2016 and was appointed Schools Superintendent to the Catholic Schools in September 2016 by His Excellency Most Rev. Emmanuel Trance, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Catarman.
